This is the second La Crosse weather instrument I
have purchased (I broke the first one by stepping on it....if not, I
probably would still be using it!!..). I purchased this one because I
had such good luck with the first one. I have found that these small
'personal' weather station devices can be either good or pretty
bad...not much in between or at the extreme ends of the spectrum either.
With that in mind, please understand that I cannot comment on the
ABSOLUTE accuracy of the temperature readings or the forecasting
(weather guessing??..)....And, that doesn't really bother me because all
of the meteorologists are frequently inaccurate as well....
So, if the temps are so important that the difference between 86 degrees and 87 degrees outside OR 74 degrees and 75 degrees inside is going to spoil your whole day, then you probably need a professional weather instrument that can be calibrated and is certifiable. If, on the other hand, you can be happy knowing the relative temps and knowing that your device is REPEATABLY accurate, then you will like this instrument.
There are a couple of things about this type of instrument that sometimes confuse folks....so here are a couple of quick tips. First, the accuracy of the temperature readings inside and outside (with respect to each other..) can be verified by you. To do so, place the inside monitor in a location that is NOT subject to cyclical variations such as sunlight, drafts from doors, AC/Heat vents, etc. Then after verifying that the outdoor sensor is 'talking' to the inside monitor, place the outdoor sensor in the same location as the inside monitor.
